Pennsylvania Compact State - Compact states are states that have joined together to authorize their nurses to obtain multiple state licenses called compact licenses. Each state has passed legislation through their state government allowing this change. Compact licensing allows nurses to work in other states that have followed suit by using their multi-state licenses.
The official title that enables this practice is the Nursing Licensure Compact or NLC. It was updated on July 18, 2018 and is now known as the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). Fortunately, most states have joined the eNLC, easing the burden on nurses to apply for and maintain licensure in many states.
Pennsylvania Compact State
You may hear Nursing Compact, NLC, eNLC, and multi-state licensure thrown around. Basically, they all mean the same thing. In this and the following documents, "community states" refer to states that have ratified the eNLC.

Similarly, a "compact license" is a license obtained in a complicated state that functions as a multistate nursing license but can only be used in other complicated states. Nurses who wish to work in a state that is not part of the eNLC must apply for a single license in that state in addition to having a compact license from their home state.
Nurses who received a compact license under the original NLC are the majority of those who join, and are allowed to continue practicing under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). However, they should check their own national laws. All but one of the original density states (Rhode Island) adopted the more recent eNLC guidelines. As a result, Rhode Island has delayed becoming an eNLC state and licensed nurses from R.I. no longer eligible. work in other compact countries.
ENLC is for Registered Nurses (RN) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN/LVN) only. The National Council of Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is working on a compact agreement for APRNs that will be implemented when seven states ratify the law. Currently, three states have enacted APRN laws, and two are awaiting legislation. Remember, if you are a nurse or a military nurse, there are differences you need to know.
In total, 35 jurisdictions have ratified the law and are now members of the eNLC. 35 of these states have implemented nursing license collections as of June 2022, and two states and two territories are awaiting implementation.
So That's What They Mean By Compact And Contiguous
Even after obtaining a license, it is important for nurses to check the laws of the state in which they wish to work. Nurses may adhere to practice standards outlined by each state even if they have multiple state licenses.
The NLC was signed into law on July 1, 2021 and will be implemented on January 1, 2023. After this date, Ohio nurses can apply for a multi-state license and nurses from any other low-income state in Ohio.
The NLC was signed into law on July 1, 2021; but the implementation date has not yet been determined. Their Board of Nursing is awaiting confirmation of the NLC language so it can investigate criminal activity. Until then, nurses with multistate licenses cannot practice in the state and nurses who live in Pennsylvania cannot apply for multistate licenses.
The eNLC has been approved and is planned to be implemented in 2022. Guam Nurses cannot apply for multi-state licensure until then; however, nurses who hold multi-state licenses from their home states are allowed to work in Guam.
Status Of National Popular Vote Bill In Each State
The eNLC has been approved but is awaiting implementation. The date has not yet been set. VI nurses cannot obtain multistate licenses, and nurses with multiple state licenses from other NLC states may not practice in VIs until implementation.
HB1284 was referred to the Committee on Health Care Finance and Joint Hearing. The current reporting date has been extended to Sunday, 31 July 2022.
A10559. In January 2022, Governor Hochul proposed legislation to join the Interstate Medical Licensing Compact and the Nursing Licensing Compact, which he added to his budget for SFY 2023. A10559 takes effect this July 2022.

HB 7268 and SB 163. On 06/22/2022 the House appointed a committee to review statewide nursing employment data and employment laws for HB 7268.
Michigan's governor vetoed HB 4046 which had passed the Senate and House. Another bill is being planned.
13 states + D.C., 2 territories do not have eNLC laws. Some states have introduced bills that are pending, have failed, or have stalled in the process.
Some countries refuse to join the eNLC for several reasons. The first is about workers' rights. Most of these governments have strong ties to protect their unions. They see it as an attempt to undermine their ability to trade together. Some nurses think that managers are only supportive so that they can reduce nursing inefficiencies in their facilities. Some believe that eliminating these weaknesses will reduce nurses' ability to choose better work practices. Fearing that they would become an inferior country, foreign nurses would come in and take jobs from nurses in their own countries.
Pa Compact Model Legislation Approved
The second part revolves around concerns that the state nursing board is not compact. They believe that sending more nurses will reduce the government's pool of dedicated nurses. They say nurses in other countries may not have the same high standards, which could endanger patient safety. Ax does not explain how to deal with learning issues.
Finally, there is money. If nurses do not pay for special nursing licenses and renewal fees for each state, the revenue brought in by the state board of nursing will decrease. to facilitate more intensive monitoring and supervision of intensive care nurses.

First of all, practicing nursing in a compact state will allow your nursing license to be accepted in one of the 35 states that have implemented it including Guam. Having a multi-state license eliminates much of the hassle that must be done when working in one state and planning to work in another state for nursing license requirements.

This benefit is great for travel nurses and telehealth positions. This means you don't have to worry about applying for and renewing your nursing license in multiple states because you have a multi-state nursing license. You also don't have to wait weeks to months for the license in the new country you're applying to work to arrive.
In fact, you save money and time by not having to apply for and renew multiple government licenses. You also have more flexibility when deciding where to work as a nurse (especially if you're looking for a short-term travel nurse job).
There aren't many challenges nearby unless you want to work in an uncrowded state, like California or Connecticut. If you do so, you should apply and consult that state's specific licensing requirements and your compact license requirements. If you are currently licensed and live in a state with a pending eNLC law, you should wait to apply for your compact license until the implementation date. So, you may be able to renew your state license once while waiting.

So if compact ownership is important to you, you may want to move your Primary Country Position (PSOR), or home base, to one in eNLC. Your driver's license, state tax return or voter registration (ie, proof of where you live when you're not working as a travel nurse) confirms your citizenship. In other words, your "home" is a home. Remember, you cannot download property in specified "home" mode. You should take that land as your new permanent home.
Countries in the eNLC will benefit from greater access to more mobile and accessible nurses. This flexibility encourages travel nursing and fills per-diem shifts across states, due to the demand for nurses in multiple states.
